A Tangram is an old Chinese game from the Song Dynasty where a player uses the shapes that have been created by a square being cut into 7 pieces. The aim of the game is to create specific shapes (such as animals, people, objects, etc) with the 7 pieces placed in different formations. Let your child’s imagination and problem solving skills go wild as they design a variety of different pictures.
The player can also be given a silhouette of a specific shape that they have to make. However younger children can be given the breakdown of the shape so that it isn’t too difficult. For silhouette patterns to use with this tangram, search tangram in google images and hit print. A great rainy day activity on holidays.
